North Dakota Continuing Education Requirements

Currently, we understand North Dakota to require the following:

Licensed/actively practicing for 1 to 14 years:
Twenty-four (24) hours of continuing education are required every two years.  Of the 24 hours, 12 hours must be classroom, hands-on.  No more than 10 hours may be earned by remote/on-line means.  Remote is anything that is not presented in person in a physical location.  3 hours can be self-care.  No hours can be carried into the next renewal period.  All hours are to be submitted with your license renewal application.  The Board does not keep track of your hours for you.

*ETHICS– For the first renewal after becoming licensed in this state, a minimum of three hours of the required twenty-four hours must be ethics education.  After your first renewal, you are not required to obtain ethics education!

**Licensees during their initial licensure period are not required to report hours of continuing education in order to complete their first licensure renewal application.

Licensed/actively practicing for 15 to 24 years:
Six (6) hours of continuing education are required every two years.  No hours can be carried into the next renewal period.  All hours are to be submitted with your license renewal application.  The Board does not keep track of your hours for you.

Licensed/actively practicing for 25 or more years:
Three (3) hours of continuing education are required every two years.  No hours can be carried into the next renewal period.  All hours are to be submitted with your license renewal application.  The Board does not keep track of your hours for you.
